KUALA LUMPUR: Six people were killed when the Nissan Skyline they were travelling in crashed into a pole and burst into flames, here, today (12.42am).
Senior Assistant Fire Officer Hamid Daud said the bodies of three men and three women were extracted from the vehicle.
He said the victims were all adults, but one of the deceased might be a teenager, judging on the size of the body.
He added the personnel found a bag inside the burnt car, which contained a Filipino legal documentation.
However, investigation was still ongoing to find out the identity of the deceased.
City Fire and Rescue Department deputy director Azizan Ismail said they received a distress call at 12.42am and the first team arrived at the scene 10 minutes later.
13 firemen from Pudu and Hang Tuah Fire Station were involved in the operation.
It was learnt that the blue Skyline was registered under a foreigner’s name.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old Kamarul Haniff Hamid said he was on his way to send his friend when he was driving along the road. While he was heading towards the Kampung Pandan area, he heard a loud thump.
“Through the rear-view mirror, I immediately saw the car which was already on fire at that time,” he said.
Kamarul has stopped to help, but he said there was a small explosion and he had to step away from the car.
The army personnel claimed that when he was nearby the burnt vehicle, he did not hear any screams neither saw any signs of struggles from the victims inside.
All he could see was the driver’s seat has already moved to the car’s steering. He believed the victims were already unconscious at the time.
